Weekend Coffee Chat

Welcome back to the weekend!  Shoutout to all of the people reading this who work weekends and just rolled their eyes because they hate the weekends.  I used to work weekends and every time someone would say TGIF I would want to smack them.  I kid I kid.

I hope everyone had a wonderful week!  We went to the aquarium in Gatlinburg, TN last Sunday and had a lot of fun!  I live in the Knoxville, TN area.  I have loved having both the city of Knoxville and the Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg area to keep us entertained while we have lived here.  I thought about doing a series on life in my city because we have so many fun things to do!

We are planning a dinner party to have with some friends in a few weeks and I can’t wait!  I’m really hoping the weather cooperates to allow us to eat outdoors.  I have some fun plans and hope they work out!  I will be sharing some details of the dinner party on the blog so stay tuned!

I placed another order on this website this week for more jewelry and goodies!  I am planning on doing a video about my collection from this website because they’re all so stinking cute!  In fact, they’re having a Memorial Day sale this weekend so go check it out!

Speaking of Memorial Day, what are your plans?  My plans include revamping my patio now that it’s finally warmer and being lazy!

Have you all seen these new coffee mugs at Target?  I bought two new ones this week.  One of my favorite things to buy as a souvenir at Disney are coffee mugs.  I love drinking my coffee in them each day thinking about the fun memories we made during each trip.  When I saw that Target had Disney mugs, I wanted to go crazy, but I restrained myself and only bought two.  I also bought this and this though to make drinking water more fun.  So much for the restraining myself thing I mentioned earlier.

I hope you all have a very fun holiday weekend!  What fun things did you all do and discover this week?

My Favorite Daily Devotional

I have mentioned before that my faith is very important to me.  I had a goal this year to increase my daily devotionals and spend more time in God’s word.  I had a small devotional book that I was enjoying, but I was ready for a new one.  After doing some research, I found this devotional and also this new Bible!

Not only is this book great for reading God’s word, but it is also a daily journal.  I use it to jot down what is going on in my life and what I’m grateful for each day.  I also use it as a prayer journal.  I don’t know about you, but if I have something super cute, it helps me want to use it more often!  They offer different colors which have different scriptures to read.

I have built time in my morning routine to sit down before work and have some quiet time to read the Bible and write in this devotional.  I can’t tell you how great it feels to start each day out that way!

My hope is that I will lead by example of what a Godly woman is like for my girls and they will continue living their life that way as they grow.  We pray each day on the way to school and make it fun by starting the drive to school by saying “Good morning Lord!!!”

I also wanted to include the information on my Bible.  I love this Bible so much!  Unfortunately, recently my Grandma passed away.  At her funeral, my cousin preached and mentioned that he went through my Grandma’s Bible after she passed away to see what things were highlighted, etc.  I thought to myself, my goodness, if I passed away and someone went through my Bible, it would look brand new.  (Ignoring the fact that it is actually brand new, but you get my point.)  My previous Bible wasn’t as used as it should have been.

As I am reading the Bible more often, I have started highlighting everything I’m reading.  I want it to be obvious to everyone out there that I made it a priority to spend time with God and read his word!  My Grandma was such a wonderful woman and I’m so honored and blessed to be her granddaughter!

I hope this post inspires you all to spend more time in God’s word!  I believe he created us to spend time with Him and most of the time, we get so busy we forget about the importance of setting aside that time to spend with God!  It really is my favorite way to get my day started!

Weekend Coffee Chat

Hello and happy Saturday!  Welcome to my first weekend coffee chat!  It has been a busy and fun week around my house.  My youngest daughter, Reese, graduated from pre-kindergarten.  She has been so excited to go up on the stage and do her performance with her friends.  For some reason, it never dawned on me that I would get emotional during this graduation.  They played the graduation song and all the kids walked in together in a line and my eyes filled with tears!  Reese won the happiest kid award and that just about melted my heart!  It was fun getting dressed up with my girls and my husband.  It’s fun having girls who love being girly and getting dressed up!

I recently bought this which has changed my coffee drinking game while I’m working.  I work from home and I’m on the phone quite a bit during the day.  I’m used to getting up and warming up one cup of coffee about five times before I have the time to finish it.  Not anymore!!  I just put my coffee cup on this and it stays warm for hours!

I ordered this awesome deal last week.  I absolutely love this tinted moisturizer and because it was included in the kit and was offered at such a great deal, I had to order it.  I wore the lip gloss that came with this kit last night during the graduation, and I loved it!  It was a perfect spring pink with a hint of shimmer.  I’m not one to usually use lip gloss with shimmer, but this one offered just the right amount!  The staying power for a lip gloss was also pretty impressive.

I have been wearing this necklace almost every day.  I ordered the gold one.  I have my necklaces hanging up and Reese likes to help me pick out my jewelry.  She has been getting frustrated because I always want to wear this necklace, but I really love it!  I also ordered this necklace in silver and put my girls’ names on it.  I love both of them so much and definitely plan on ordering more from this site!

I’m working on furthering my degree to become a family nurse practitioner.  I have been a registered nurse for almost ten years and I’m looking forward to further my knowledge and taking on this new responsibility!  I have decided to take this summer off so I’m enjoying this little break from school.

My girls will be out of school soon for summer break and we have a lot of fun things planned!  I am working on ideas to keep them busy this summer while I’m working so they don’t sit in front of screens all day to stay occupied.  I plan on doing a blog post and maybe a video about these ideas.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Happy Mother’s Day!

Happy Mother’s Day to all you mamas out there!!  I have had a wonderful day with my two girls and my husband.  We woke up and had tea and homemade raspberry lemon scones.  They were delicious!!  If you’re interested in the recipe, I’ll be happy to share in a post one day.  Let me know in the comments if you’re interested.

My in-laws got me the beautiful tea set shown in the picture above for Christmas.  I’m obsessed with it.  I would put a link to it, but it was from Teavana and they unfortunately went out of business this year.

I don’t know about you, but I certainly never understood how difficult yet rewarding it would be to be a mother until I experienced it myself.  I have sat back so many times and felt terrible for the things I did to my parents, even something so little as constantly arguing with my little sister, now that I know how hard it is to have kids.  Ugh.. isn’t sibling arguing the worst!?  Why can’t we all just get along!?

My girls are five and ten.  My ten year old thinks she is a teenager already.  We were eating dinner out last night and she saw some teenagers all dressed up for prom and she got sad that she wasn’t old enough to do that.  I’m trying to teach her to enjoy being in forth grade because one day she will look back and wish she was back in forth grade!  Although, it’s pretty fun growing up in my opinion.  My five year old just goes with the flow and is hilarious.  I have truly enjoyed my girls at each stage so far!

I hope you all had a wonderful Mother’s Day!  What did you all do to celebrate Mother’s Day?
